...back!

Ok, so I've been away having a blast in Europe for the past few weeks so it's about time I get some pics up about our awesome trip!

I should start where I left off and put up the pics from the last ski trip but I don't have the pics on this computer so I'll mix things up: so, here's a few shots from Chamonix and surrounds...

After hanging in Sweden for a bit, with Maria's fam & at N&Ks wedding (which was an awesome time!), we bailed to Cham to help B&I get settled into their new place - and of course take the opportunity to check out this very special part of the world...

Not a bad view to wake up to! Took a few days to see it though as it was a bit rainy...

...and finally! Mont Blanc!

Mont Blanc is center with Les Bosson Glacier flowing to cham

Aguille du midi, with the worlds great ski lift! 900m->3800m!
Photobucket
After a few days the weather really opened up so after building a house-load of ikea stuff we went for a hike, taking the lift to Brevent (2500m) and hiking down to Lac Brevent (~2000m) and back up for lunch then down to Plan Praz (2000m) for the lift back to the village

The views from le Aguille Rouges of the Mont Blanc massif are rightly famous!

Lac Brevent, awwww - like a love heart

Can you spot the climber?

I couldn't take enough sunset shots...

Aguille du midi - 'Needle of the South' - poking it's nose through the cloud with the Telepherique de l'Aguille du Midi on it's way. We hiked from Plan De l'Aguille to Montenvers to check out the Mer de Glace, we got a little wet on the way...

We rode up to Argentiere for lunch, and a different view. The ride back down the hill was far more fun!

All in all, a fabulous time was had by all - and a big happy 60th for Bo! We ate too much food and went rafting down le Arve in the sun - Brilliant!
I can't wait to visit again, particularly next Feb....

Mt Tate with Maria & Nic B

Well, after a huge delay I finally finished editing the video from our last ski trip, out to Mt Tate East Ridge with Maria & Nic B... We had a great time and scored some pretty nice conditions, as you'll see. Click the 'HD' button and full screen for full effect :) I've got some pretty sweet pics also but I've gotta go through them sometime and I'll chuck 'em up when I can... For now, I'm off to Smaland for a few days on a farm.........

**now in HD**

Ok, now it's in HD so watch it in fullscreen and it should be far better! :D

vid from last weekend

Well, I finally got around to editing the footage from last weekend, nothing too interesting but a fun little edit - it's only in crappy resolution since I made the file too big to upload as a HD video :( anyway, the skiing sucked so this is more of a play around, enjoy!

Twynam Ck & Ice

Maria & I headed out from Guthega on Friday to kick off our ski season, unfortunately since last weeks dump a serious ice crust had formed with everyone reporting fairly ordinary conditions... So of course we headed out! Whilst the snow was pox the weather was great so we head up the valley crossing the Snowy River at the Illawong bridge.

I managed the usual 'pack stack' by hooking some shrub and putting another bend in my trashed pole

here you can see the Illawong bridge

It took us maybe 3hrs to get to camp

The next morning was bright and crisp with a fairly cool breeze blowing steadily, after a few cups of coffee and some breaky we headed up for a little look around, finding nothing but sheet ice!

and some serious hoar frost!

Looking back towards Guthega

With the horrid skiing and that I forgot to pack a few things, namely Maria's down pants (biiig trouble!), we headed home the next arvo. A lovely start to the season and good for our fitness! Maybe 2:10 on the way home... I also have some video footage that I'll post up as soon as I can work out how to edit it all together!

megalong 30th

I just got back from the most amazing weekend away with some friends under the pretense of celebrating my 30th... I say that 'cause it just felt like a great weekend away and we need to find excuses like that to do it more in the future! A huge thank you to you all for making it such a great time and to my amazing wife for bringing it all together!
We headed up on Friday arvo and made our way down the valley by 3pm or so and it was a nice 8*C, far nicer than the 5* up in the mountains! Eventually everyone showed up and we settled in for some dinner with a few relaxing beers & vino's...

The next morning, the sun rose to a lovely day, we pretty much just hung out in the morning, drinking coffee in the sun!

We took the opportunity to brush up on centre-court... it's in a pretty sad state. Note the footwear!

Little Oscar, cute as ever!

Some nutter's actually went for a 10km run! (not me)

And yep, Evie is still adorable!

The wind got up and so did the kite...

Pete & Brendan then joined us for an amazing feast and we ate and drank our fill well into the evening... And I received some very nice, thoughtful gifts from some very special friends! (ipad, some nice vino, a very nice jumper and a very nice scotch decanter!)

The next day dawned an absolute stunner and a few of us decided to saddle up and hit the trail! It was a great way to relax and soak up the vista, despite my stubborn steed Hank.

And then came an amazing surprise as my little sister Nicole showed up! Lunch with her was the perfect way to end an amazing weekend! Thanks everyone!!
