Mer de Glacé

Well, the weather has come good here in Chamonix so we organised a guide for a day on the Mer de Glacé for some mountain safety - using crampons, axe and crevasse rescue techniques.. We managed to squeeze in a little ice climbing too :) We shared the guide with two Brits that wanted the same thing which helped with the costs but there is still a ton of gear to buy...

    We started with a great view from Montenvers up at Les Drus

 After a great day on the ice we headed back to town and back up the ladders in the blazing sun. Can't wait to tie in again on ice!

Just a few pics from hanging out in gbg, we had summer for a whole single day so far... then it rained all of today :( oh well, off to munich to see our favourite germans and then to chamonix for some fun in the mountains! can't wait!

Well, it's been a while between drinks, renovations have a habit of consuming everything but things seem to be coming together. Nic, Maria & I made it out for a sneaky 3 dayer on the Main Range, sneaky since we just beat the weather which fell to shit as we packed up. Perfect! Well, mostly. We missed the good snow but scored nice warm weather so no complaints!
My dSLR lens has packed it in so my pics are just from my phone, better than nothing.
We started off in style, rendezvousing with Nic at the Alpine Habitats, since Jindy & Cooma were sold out for the holidays...

Ok, so I've been away having a blast in Europe for the past few weeks so it's about time I get some pics up about our awesome trip!

I should start where I left off and put up the pics from the last ski trip but I don't have the pics on this computer so I'll mix things up: so, here's a few shots from Chamonix and surrounds...

After hanging in Sweden for a bit, with Maria's fam & at N&Ks wedding (which was an awesome time!), we bailed to Cham to help B&I get settled into their new place - and of course take the opportunity to check out this very special part of the world...

Not a bad view to wake up to! Took a few days to see it though as it was a bit rainy...

After a few days the weather really opened up so after building a house-load of ikea stuff we went for a hike, taking the lift to Brevent (2500m) and hiking down to Lac Brevent (~2000m) and back up for lunch then down to Plan Praz (2000m) for the lift back to the village

Aguille du midi - 'Needle of the South' - poking it's nose through the cloud with the Telepherique de l'Aguille du Midi on it's way. We hiked from Plan De l'Aguille to Montenvers to check out the Mer de Glace, we got a little wet on the way...

We rode up to Argentiere for lunch, and a different view. The ride back down the hill was far more fun!

All in all, a fabulous time was had by all - and a big happy 60th for Bo! We ate too much food and went rafting down le Arve in the sun - Brilliant!
I can't wait to visit again, particularly next Feb....

Mt Tate with Maria & Nic B

Well, after a huge delay I finally finished editing the video from our last ski trip, out to Mt Tate East Ridge with Maria & Nic B... We had a great time and scored some pretty nice conditions, as you'll see. Click the 'HD' button and full screen for full effect :) I've got some pretty sweet pics also but I've gotta go through them sometime and I'll chuck 'em up when I can... For now, I'm off to Smaland for a few days on a farm.........
