Wow. Cold change came through with the goods! Stupidly I thought the Blueys would be a good spot for a climb, hoping to get some sun & stay out of the wind, Eric & I launched to New York. As we hopped out of the car in Blackheath for the obligatory coffee & pastry - hooollllleeeee shiiiit! Freezing. We pushed on.
Yep, 5* driving down to Mt York. Eric lamented me asking him to dress warm... He had his clothes stolen yesterday so all he had was his hoodie! Bloody scumbag backpackers!
I'd never been to New York before, so it was a nice change... a nice scenic walk down a green gully with a VERY large tree trunk sitting there... - it's far bigger than it looks! almost 2M in diameter!
No, Really. It's forkin cold! We stubbornly dogged our way to the top of some finger-shredding climbs, disappointing ourselves in our lack of strength and constitution :(
So we retreated to the Imperial Hotel for a beer by the fire! A very nice way to turn the table on a rather ordinary day in the mountains - in saying that, it was still great to get up there and hang out, just a little fresh! It snowed in Blackheath about 2 hours after we left...................
MEANWHILE! The cold weather system coming through at the moment is puking the white stuff down south...
It's the 10am Friday & onwards that's got my interest... Cold front arriving with the isobars indicating a nice cold air flow that'll hopefully help anything falling, fall as snow... Followed by a nice stable HP system to give us lovely skiing weather over the weekend... Hope this comes off - I'm seriously stoked! :D
